MarbleQuiz Learning Activity
Raspberry Pi Input Device with Touchscreen
A child using MarbleQuiz to practice multiplication.
This project was completed with a team of engineering students from Arizona State University.
Our marble race track is used in combination with a touch screen assembly to create an interactive learning tool for elementary school students. The screen displays questions from various subjects with multiple choice answers for a student to choose from. Our product was specifically designed for third graders, with the intention to interest them in STEM fields. Through talking with Mrs. Noel from Quartz Hill Elementary School we decided that the best way to benefit her third grade classroom would be to create an interactive learning tool that specifically focuses on the multiplication table. However, the learning tool can be easily used for other grade levels by loading other questions from a repository on the Raspberry Pi. The purpose of our marble racetrack is to provide entertaining feedback to students when they select the correct answer. The marble will only proceed past the barriers when a student answers the question correctly. The acrylic build was intended to show the internal workings of the maze, to make the machine more interesting and thus appealing to younger students who may otherwise lose interest.
